Yes, Madrona Recovery serves youth with a range of substance use backgrounds—from none to severe. Treatment is individualized to meet each youth's needs.

What age youth does Madrona Recovery serve?

We serve teens between the ages of 13 and 17, and may serve 18-year-olds in some circumstances.

What fun activities do youth engage in while at Madrona Recovery?

Madrona integrates fun activities like themed Spirit Weeks, Madrona Olympics, 'Seeking Joy' groups, daily community meetings, and 'Good-bye Circles' to enrich the recovery experience.

How long is the program at Madrona Recovery?

Most youth participate in the program for 4–6 weeks, but length can vary based on clinical needs, stabilization, safety planning, and family engagement.

Do youth need to be willing to come into Madrona?

Yes, admission is voluntary. Our team supports youth and families in preparing for a positive treatment experience. Once admitted, youth cannot discharge without guardian approval and a safety plan.

Is a referral needed for admission to Madrona Recovery?

Insurance companies often require referrals and clinical documentation. Madrona assists in gathering required information for expedited processing.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. Madrona Recovery accepts both commercial and Medicaid insurance plans and can coordinate self-pay options. Coverage is verified for all admissions.

What belongings can youth bring with them to Madrona?

Madrona provides a packing list outlining permitted and restricted items, always with safety in mind.

What therapeutic activities do youth engage in while at Madrona?

Youth participate in daily group therapy, weekly individual and family therapy, psychiatry, nursing assessment, drug and alcohol counseling, and ongoing skills coaching.

How do youth visit with family?

Family visitation is conducted virtually, typically weekly for 20–30 minutes via Microsoft Teams or Zoom.

Can youth continue schoolwork while at Madrona?

Yes. An Education Coordinator collaborates with the youth’s home school to ensure academic needs are met during treatment.

How are family members involved in the treatment process?

Family participation is critical and includes intake, regular meetings, virtual support and education groups, and active collaboration with the treatment team.

Do youth have their own bedroom?

Most bedrooms are single occupancy, but a few may be shared. All youth begin in a single room, and roommate assignments are only made with agreement.

Do youth have their own bathroom?

Bathrooms are shared within the community but are all single occupancy for privacy.

What happens when a youth is close to completing the program?

Case managers and therapists work with families to develop aftercare plans, schedule follow-up appointments, and support ongoing recovery and safety.
